Lawrence Park
is home to wealthy Torontonians, and is regarded as one of the finest Toronto communities, and as the most family-friendly of Toronto's high end locations. Its quiet residential streets, many having no sidewalks, are shaded by mature trees. In the south Lawrence Park borders on Blythwood Ravine, Sherwood Park and Sunnydene Park. In the west Alexander Muir Memorial Gardens and a park separate the neighbourhood from the traffic of Yonge Street.
Many residences of Lawrence Park date from early to mid 20th century, and most sit on lots with frontage of 50 feet or more. A small proportion of Lawrence Park properties are smaller in size, some of them 30 feet in width. A number of the fine homes have been exquisitely renovated. Some new homes were constructed recently, taking advantage of the generous lot sizes. There is a difference of opinion whether these newly built large homes fit in with the style of the neighbouring architecture.
Lawrence Park home owners enjoy fine shopping and dining on Yonge Street. Many of the area residents belong to Granite Club, a prestigious sports and recreation complex. Lawrence Park ravine, with entrance just west of Yonge, provides great environment for walking. Three tenis courts and a bowling club are located south-east of Alexander Muir Memorial Gardens.
