Spring clean your home
A time to lighten the load: de-clutter and donate
Spring brings a promise of new beginnings, and is often a favourite time for making changes in our homes, redecorating, moving furniture. When the days become longer, and temperature milder, we have more energy. Spring is also the best time to list a house or condo for sale if you are planning to move. And before listing it is important to make each room look its best, and most spacious.
A good place to start is getting rid of the extras. This is a hard task unless approached with a plan. To help you get started, included here are a few ideas.
Tips
-
Divide and conquer: divide each room into manageable sections and aim to complete once section a day.
-
Collect boxes at the local liquor store and use to organize stuff that doesn't belong, as you go: a box for each - paper, garbage, give-away, needs to be put somewhere else in the house.
-
Once you have a full box of paper, go through it and sort the entire box into separate piles: Recycle, Shred, Pay, File or Act-on. Then work on each pile.
-
Aim to get 3 bags a day out of the house: garbage, recycling or donations.
